How to Prepare for the Coaching Session?
1) Before the session, please take our free personality test. Our personality test tells you what your 4 letter personality type is. This is a very powerful tool in discovering a new career direction. It works well for about 95% of our clients. It's also useful in diagnosing interpersonal relationship problems. Optionally You can purchase a 35 page report based on your Personality Type. Clients are amazed at the insights they gain from this report.
2) It also helps if you take our Career Interest Test which gives you your Holland Code. We use this during the session. It shows us what type of work you are interested in and what work you will be passionate about.
3) Send us your latest resume if you have one. This helps us understand what type of work you have done.
4) Send us an email with just a few sentences describing what the problem is or what subjects you want to cover in your session.
Before your session we will prepare by reviewing all of this information so that we can make the best use of your time.
What Happens During a Tele-Coaching Career Counseling Session?
Each session is different and we do whatever it takes to help you, the client.
First we want to hear your story in your own words. What type of work have you done? What is the problem now?
We will ask specific questions geared to get you to open up and say what is really on your mind.
The key here is that we will listen very, very carefully and there are certain things we are listening for. But I can't tell you what those things are now because those are trade secrets.
After you tell us about your background, we start to brainstorm and explore your future options. We use the results from your Personality Test and Career Interest Test.
During the session, we will interpret those test results and get your thoughts as we go. In this way we both get on the same wavelength, the same train of thought. Then we will start to take you into the future.
We will ask you many questions until, we both have the "ah ha" moment when the light bulb goes on for both of us. When it happens we both will know. This will be the clue, or the missing piece of the puzzle that will give us the vision of your future.
Then we will brainstorm various steps to achieving your new future. After that you will know the next few things you have to do.
We offer follow up sessions, but quite frankly most people don't need them. That's why we don't make you sign up for 6 or 12 sessions. Usually one session will give you the direction you need to start your Career Change.
How Long are the Coaching Sessions?
The most popular career counseling session is our 1 Hour call. We spend 15-20 minutes preparing before the call. We study results from your free personality test, the results from the Career Interest Test, your resume if you have sent it to us, and any emails you may have sent.
We don't watch the clock too closely. If the session needs to run a few minutes over, we let it, and there is no charge for the extra time.
We also offer 15 minute follow up sessions, but that's only after you have completed the first 1 hour session.
