Resolving Team Turbulence with MBTI®Complete

Jennifer was chosen to lead a team of high performers in a firm that had recently been acquired by her company to bolster its product portfolio.

The team was well into development of a product designed to challenge the incumbent in a new market. Jennifer's history of successful product introductions made her a natural choice from her management's point of view.

Unfortunately, the team did not agree with Jennifer's management. Although reports indicated that the team members worked well together and had excellent communication, Jennifer found them to be unresponsive, uncooperative, and even insubordinate.

Bringing in new members was not an option given time and budget constraints, and Jennifer quickly exhausted her repertoire of managerial tools to address the situation.

With deadlines nearing and pressure from management mounting, Jennifer sought out an executive coach to help her motivate the team and ensure the success of the product launch. The coach had Jennifer take MBTI ®Complete and scheduled time with her to go over the results.

The online interpretation session helped Jennifer understand the aspects of her personality the assessment was showing her. With an appreciation for her type as well as an understanding of basic personality differences, she was able to see the underlying problems with her team more clearly. A variety of materials offered help with dynamics and development, behavior under stress, and change management.

Jennifer's team members were dealing with many layers of change due to the merging of their company, being assigned a new manager, and worrying about their future with the new organization. Their reactions weren't uncommon for people under those kinds of pressures.

After learning to leverage her own strengths and adding insights about type into her communications, Jennifer was able to reach her team members, address their fears, and move the project along to successful completion.

Understanding herself and others better helped Jennifer keep her career on the fast track.
